From a neighborhood burial ground for pioneers to the cemetery today
Introduction to Land Records of McCord Cemetery
Land records are the oldest records for McCord Cemetery and document its progression
from a neighborhood burial ground to a community cemetery. The first owner of the
land where McCord Cemetery is located was John Paden who purchased public domain
land from the federal government for $1.25 an acre. John Paden and his neighbors
were the pioneers of Irving Township. Subsequent transfers of this land were recorded
