From a neighborhood burial ground for pioneers to the cemetery today
Introduction to Land Records of McCord Cemetery
Land records are the oldest records for McCord Cemetery and document its progression from a neighborhood burial ground to a community cemetery. The first owner of the land where McCord Cemetery is located was John Paden who purchased public domain land from the federal government for $1.25 an acre. John Paden and his neighbors were the pioneers of Irving Township. Subsequent transfers of this land were recorded in county record books. Other land records of the cemetery include plat maps and surveys.
